Agatha Christie - Adventurer
JOIN US CELEBRATING THE QUEEN OF CRIME FROM BENEATH THE SURFACE
From a young age growing up in Torquay, Agatha always had an adventurous spirit, sea swimming at Meadfoot, roller skating on Princess Pier and horse riding to Cockington.
In this talk, Matt Newbury, who is the Creative Director of the Agatha Christie Festival, looks at how this bold and daring side to her character continued throughout her life, especially as part of her remarkable international travels. He will also chat about how many of these extraordinary experiences fed into her books and plays, revealing an often-unexpected side to her character.
The setting of Kents Cavern is particularly apt for this fascinating talk, as it features in one of her most famous adventure story, The Man in the Brown Suit.
