Penzance-born Jennifer Davy has published a children’s story about her ancestor, Sir Humphry Davy - one of Cornwall’s most famous historical figures. To celebrate World Book Day in collaboration with Kents Cavern, Jennifer will be performing readings of her book inside the captivating atmosphere of the caves!

Kents Cavern is thrilled to be an official partner for World Book Day this year, and we have something truly special in store! We’re delighted to welcome Cornish children’s author, Jennifer Davy, to our caves for enchanting storytelling sessions this March – completely FREE for families to enjoy.

Jennifer, a Penzance-born writer with a passion for history, has recently published an exciting new children’s book, Chloe and the Bright Idea. This beautifully written adventure follows Chloe, a charismatic labradoodle, as she helps the famous Cornish scientist Sir Humphry Davy find inspiration for his groundbreaking invention - the Miner’s Safety Lamp. With stormy seas, shipwrecks, and smugglers’ caves, the book captures the magic of Cornwall’s wild coast and its rich history in a way that’s fun, engaging, and educational for children.

Jennifer’s use of rhyme, rhythm, and alliteration makes Chloe and the Bright Idea a joy to read aloud, making her upcoming storytelling sessions at Kents Cavern an unmissable experience. And where better to hear a tale of adventure and discovery than inside the atmospheric depths of our ancient caves?
